Meerkats
(Suricata suricatta)

We have 3 ponies on the farm and they are some of the animals that have been with us the longest, their names are Holly, Charlie and Fudge.

Holly and Charlie are very well known with our visitors and are available to groom and walk during our pony animal encounter.

Ponies are very strong animals, whose bodies are stockier than horses. On average a pony can carry around 20% of its own body weight on its back. Ponies, like horses have 2 blind spots, one is right behind them so if they sense something threatening behind them they make kick and another blind spot directly in front of them closer than around 120cm.

They have thick coats to keep them warm in the winter, when the weather gets warmer, their coats can be groomed to brush out the old hair to help keep them cooler.

Where can you see our Ponies?

Our ponies are some of our golden oldies, so move around the farm depending on the weather. They can sometimes be found in the silver barn or in the paddock near to sheep racing.
