Home Educator Day!

Home Educator Day

Monday 22nd April

Join us for a day of free-range fun, where you will be able to join in with all our usual farm activities with some added extras. Your Home Educator Day includes full admission to the farm, as well as your own exclusive talks.

Topic of the day:
Sheep Shearing!

Learn why shearing sheep is important and have a look at the different types of wool some of our animals produce. Find out the benefits of wool, and of course, some time to meet our newest spring time arrivals.
You can arrive at anytime during the day for free-flow exploring, and then meet up at specific times for scheduled talks and activities throughout.

Exclusive Events

As you will be attending the Home Educator Day, you will be given your own exclusive timetable, with the regular day-to-day events that will be taking place on the farm, as well as some exclusive talks for your ears and eyes only!

Sheep shearing will be happening throughout the entire day, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to see this in action!

These exclusive talks will include a shearing talk with one of our keepers and our qualified sheep shearer who visits us many time a year, where they will educate the visitors on why we shear, and why it is so important. They will also educate you on the different sheep that we have here at the farm. This gives you a chance to ask them any questions you may have regarding what is being done and why… it will be so interesting to learn some more!

As well as this, there will be a ‘who’s wool is who’s’ activity going on for the home educator visitors, this is a chance to learn about and feel all of the different fleeces, and to investigate who’s wool is who, and what animal it belongs to. This will also educate you on the benefits of wool as a textile.

Another exclusive event for the visitors joining us on Home Educator Day, is the chance to meet the lambs and kids! This will involve a talk and a chance to meet the lambs, where a keeper will give you lots of information on our spring lambs, as well as giving you the opportunity to give them a gentle stroke!

Daytime Events

As well as all of the exclusive events put on just for the Home Educator day, there will be our normal timetable of events running on this day, which you are more than welcome to get stuck into!

This will include our meerkat feeding, where a keeper will talk to you all about the meerkats, whilst giving them some breakfast and lunch.

Our wallaby walkthrough will be open twice throughout the day, where you can go and see the wallabies up close in their natural habitat!

There will be a ‘meet the animals’ talk in the Silver Barn, where one of our keepers will let you meet some of the wonderful animals that live in our Silver Barn here at the farm.

As well as all of this, our amazing ‘Reptiles of the World’ will be open from 11:00 until 4:30, for you to go and see some of the amazing exotics and reptiles that are living in there! There is also many places to play throughout the day, including our brand new Jungle Barn, Miniville, the Sky Jumpers, Merv’s lookout, the Go Kart track and the Beach!
